A site app for renovation contractors in Singapore
Three months after handover, the owner says the bathroom was never waterproofed properly. The tiles are on. The only photo of the membrane is on a worker's old phone.
The photos that protect you
Most arguments are about work that is now hidden. Post a photo at each of these points.
| Stage | Photograph | Before it's covered by |
|---|---|---|
| Hacking | The area after hacking, before new work | Screed and masonry |
| Wet works | Waterproofing membrane on floor and up the walls, and the ponding test if done | Screed and tiles |
| Plumbing | Concealed pipes and their route | Plaster and tiles |
| Electrical | Conduits, new points, DB box | False ceiling and walls |
| Carpentry | Carcass and fittings before install | Laminate and doors |
A starting list. Your contract sets the stages on your job.
How do I prove the work was done?
- Dated stage photos, as above, posted the day the work is done.
- A variation order for every change, approved by the client before the work. See the variation order template.
- Each payment claim tied to a stage, with what is paid and what is due.
- A snag list closed with photos at handover. See the handover checklist.
CASE logged 962 renovation complaints in 2024. A record you and the client both saw at the time is much harder to argue with than a memory.
Progress reports without writing them
Every photo you post goes onto the client's Timeline with its date. They check it when they want, so you're not typing an update every evening. When you claim the next payment, the photos for that stage are already there.
What it costs
Your first project is free, with no card. Starter is S$9.90 a month for 3 active projects and Pro is S$29.90 a month for 10. Your client never pays, on any plan. Full details are on the software page.
Common questions
How do I prove my renovation work was done if there is a dispute?
Keep dated photos of each stage, especially work that gets covered up (waterproofing, concealed pipes, conduits), a written variation order for every change with the client's approval, and a record of each payment claim and what it was for. Synify keeps all of these in one record per job that the client can also see.
Is there an app for contractors to send progress reports to clients?
Yes. In Synify, photos you post go onto a dated Timeline the client sees on their phone, so the progress report builds itself as you work. The client's side is free.
Can my workers post photos without seeing the money side?
You can invite people to a project so photos come from whoever is on site. Check the roles in the app for what each person can see before you invite them.
Does Synify collect payments for me?
No. Payments records the milestones, what has been paid and the balance due, including GST and retention. The money moves between you and your client the way it does today.
Does it work for commercial jobs?
Yes. It is not tied to a property type: HDB, condo, landed or a commercial fit-out.
